AI Agents Just Became a New Class of Customer for Similarweb
AI agents consuming Similarweb intelligence through AIsa

For years, Similarweb has been one of the most important sources of digital intelligence on the internet.

Similarweb digital intelligence

Marketers, strategists, investors and sales teams use it to understand website traffic, competitors, acquisition channels, search demand, audience behavior and market movements.

Historically, there have been two primary ways to consume that intelligence.

Two ways to consume Similarweb intelligence

Humans use the Similarweb interface. A marketer logs in, searches for a company, clicks through Traffic, Geography, Search, Referrals and Competitors, exports the data, analyzes it, and decides what to do next.

Large software and data teams use the Similarweb API. They integrate Similarweb into internal data pipelines, BI systems and proprietary applications.

Both models assume essentially the same thing: the consumer is either a human, or software whose behavior was predetermined by humans.

AI agents change that assumption.

The API consumer is changing

The API consumer is changing

Imagine telling your agent:

"We're launching an AI translation device in the US. Analyze the competitive landscape, identify where competitors get their traffic, find the strongest SEO opportunities, understand what buyers are saying on social media, and recommend our GTM strategy."

The agent now has to decide, during execution:

  • which competitors to investigate;
  • what traffic data it needs;
  • which countries to compare;
  • whether it needs search, referral or audience data;
  • whether to go deeper on a newly discovered competitor;
  • when it has enough evidence;
  • and when it should stop.

This is fundamentally different from a traditional API integration. The agent isn't simply executing a fixed query written months ago by a data engineer. It is reasoning, selecting resources and consuming data dynamically at runtime.

That makes the agent itself a new type of API consumer.

Today, we're bringing that model to Similarweb

Similarweb APIs through AIsa

AIsa is the first authorized third-party platform built specifically to let AI agents consume official Similarweb APIs directly as an end user of the resource.

Through AIsa, agents can access official Similarweb intelligence as part of their own workflows—from competitive research and market analysis to SEO/GEO, sales intelligence and broader Go-to-Market execution.

No human needs to repeatedly open a dashboard, run searches and move data from one application into another. And developers don't need to build a dedicated Similarweb integration for every new agent workflow. The agent can discover and call the resource when the task requires it.

That changes the flow from:

Human → Similarweb → Data → Analysis → Action

to:

Human Intent → Agent → AIsa → Similarweb → Reasoning → Action

This looks like a small architectural change. We think it is a very big one.

Giving an agent access to premium data creates a new problem

The new control problem

You can't simply hand an autonomous agent an expensive API key and hope it behaves economically.

Consider a task as simple as:

"Analyze Canva's competitors."

An agent might:

  1. query Canva;
  2. discover five competitors;
  3. query all five;
  4. discover several more;
  5. compare traffic for each;
  6. investigate geography;
  7. investigate search;
  8. investigate referrals;
  9. follow another signal;
  10. repeat.

Every individual API call may be perfectly valid. The problem appears at the task level.

Traditional API infrastructure asks:

"Is this request allowed?"

Agent infrastructure also needs to ask:

"Should the agent spend another $2 to improve this answer?"

That is a completely different control problem.

This is why AIsa doesn't just expose the API

AIsa's control layer

We are building the control layer around resource consumption by agents.

Before execution, an agent can plan what resources it expects to need and estimate the cost. A workflow can operate in a Plan → Estimate → Confirm → Execute mode.

During execution, AIsa can enforce hard server-side constraints around the agent's resource consumption. That can include:

  • allowed resources;
  • spending limits;
  • task budgets;
  • usage metering;
  • call-level accounting;
  • and stopping or requesting approval when the task moves outside its approved boundary.

The important distinction is this:

"Please don't spend too much" in a system prompt is not a financial control. A server-enforced budget is.

Autonomous should not mean unsupervised.

Similarweb is the beginning, not the end

The resource layer for agents

A real GTM agent doesn't need only one dataset. A single market-entry task may require:

  • Similarweb for traffic and competitive intelligence
  • SEO data for keywords and rankings
  • Social data for live market signals
  • B2B data for companies and decision-makers
  • Search for current events and evidence
  • LLMs for reasoning and synthesis

Today, humans buy these as separate SaaS subscriptions. They maintain separate accounts, contracts, credentials and billing relationships.

Agents shouldn't have to.

AIsa is building the resource layer that sits between the agent and these premium resources:

discover → plan → access → consume → meter → pay → control

Similarweb is one of the clearest examples of where the internet is heading. Yesterday, premium digital intelligence was something a professional logged into. Today, it is becoming something their agent can acquire and use autonomously to complete the job.

Agents are becoming customers

And those agents are becoming customers themselves.

About AIsa

AIsa is building the resource and transaction network for the AI agent economy.

AIsa gives autonomous agents a unified way to discover, access, consume and pay for the models, APIs, premium data and digital services required to complete real-world work. Its infrastructure provides resource discovery, routing, metering, billing and spending controls designed for autonomous software.

Through a single AIsa account and API key, agents can access thousands of APIs and data resources without separately managing credentials and billing relationships across individual providers.
